Common questions
- What does the AI actually do?
- Two things. First, it turns your photo into a custom illustration in the art style you pick — watercolor, cartoon, painterly, vintage, modern, and more. Every render is original to your photo, not a template. Second, it can draft the inside message in your voice when you tap AI Message. You always get to edit before you send.
- Is this just a filter on my photo?
- No. A filter changes a photo's colors. This generates a new illustration of the same subject. Same face, same scene — different medium. The output looks like art, not a processed snapshot.
- How is it different from sites like Punkpost or Felt?
- We illustrate the card from your photo using AI; they ship hand-written cards from human artists. Theirs costs more per card and takes days to produce. Ours costs $1.78 with the subscription and produces in seconds. Both make a real card mailed via USPS — pick the trade-off you prefer.
- How much does it cost?
- $19.99/year subscription, then $1.78 per card — everything included (custom art render, envelope, stamp, USPS mailing). A premium retail greeting card runs roughly $5–9 all-in, so Pigeon Post is about 65–70% cheaper per card. Your first card is free.
- Can I preview the AI illustration before paying?
- Yes. The render is included in the create flow. If you don't like it, regenerate or switch styles — no charge until you tap send.
- What styles are supported?
- Watercolor, cartoon, painterly, vintage, modern, whimsical, comic, and doodle. Eight styles total. Most users pick watercolor for sentimental cards and cartoon for fun ones.
- Will my photo be used to train the model?
- No. Your photo is used to render your card, then dropped. We don't retain customer photos for training. See our privacy policy for details.
